Synopsis:
In the first part of the story of Kunning Palace, Jiang Xue Ning’s strong desire to be empress causes problems with her friend Yan Lin and results in the arrest of Official Zhang Zhe. She feels guilty when her time as empress ends, and rebels take over the capital, wiping out the royal family. In a last attempt to do something good, Jiang Xue Ning offers her life to save Zhang Zhe, who had always been kind to her.
Then, something strange happens. Jiang Xue Ning wakes up in her 18-year-old self, before she entered the palace. She decides to live a different life, away from palace troubles. But fate has other plans. She becomes Princess Le Yang’s study companion and a student of Xie Wei, an important teacher linked to a rebellion that led to her downfall.
In the second part of the story of Kunning Palace, Jiang Xuening now seeking freedom, she accidentally becomes a tutor in the palace. She studies under the mysterious Xie Wei and secretly tries to stop Yan Lin’s dangerous “Blood Crown Ceremony.” With the help of Xie Wei, lives are saved. After the ceremony, Jiang Xue Ning gets involved in a plan against rebels and goes undercover with Zhang Zhe.
As the Yue Kingdom threatens invasion, Princess Shen Zhiyi aims for peace, and Jiang Xuening, along with Xie Wei, heads north. Love blossoms amidst crises, but a bigger mystery unfolds about a past incident involving Prince Pingnan. In the end, Jiang Xuening and Xie Wei work together to uncover the truth of that year.
