Synopsis
Resident Playbook follows the journey of four young doctors embarking on their first year of residency in the Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN) department at the Jongno branch of Yulje Medical Center — the same hospital system made famous in Hospital Playlist. Unlike its predecessor’s focus on seasoned attendings, this series dives into the emotional, physical, and ethical struggles faced by rookie doctors trying to find their footing.
At the center of the story is Oh Yi-young (Go Youn-jung), a resilient yet quietly troubled young woman. Having once left medical school due to financial difficulties and mounting personal burdens, Yi-young returns to her residency with a heavy load of debt and self-doubt. Her return is not met with open arms; the medical world she re-enters has become even more competitive and grueling. Yet, Yi-young is determined to persevere, fueled by a deep-rooted sense of duty to her patients and to herself.
